    Brews, fun and fundraising set for fairgrounds in Canby

    CANBY: The Canby Brewfest will be held May 10-11 at the Clackamas County Event Center in Canby. The event runs from 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday, May 10, and 2 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 11.

    There will be more than 40 beverages on tap, as well as a wide array of food trucks and live music on the grounds. The event is also a fundraiser for the fairground’s new multipurpose building.

    Mother’s Day tea set for Newell Pioneer Village

    CHAMPOEG: The historic Newell Pioneer Village will hold a Mother’s Day tea from 1 to 3 p.m. May 11 at the facility adjacent to Champoeg State Heritage Area south of Newberg.

    Tea will be served on Rebecca’s Tea Porch, which looks out over the park. Seating is limited, so making reservations early is suggested.     Aurora sets day to honor moms with special events

    AURORA: “Bring Mom to Aurora,” is the theme for Saturday, May 11, for a day of shopping, bakery treats, lunch and visiting a winery or the local museum. Many businesses will have special promotions for Moms.

    Cinema Club ready for May movie in Woodburn

    WOODBURN: The Woodburn Public Library’s Cinema Club will be held Saturday, May 11, at the Bungalow Theater, 455 N. Front St.

    The program is for youth ages 14-older and the May movie will be “Susie Searches.”

    Make-It Monday offers painting at Molalla Library

    MOLALLA: The Molalla Public Library’s Make-It Monday is back on May 13 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The program, for adults ages 18 and older, will paint a colorful mock-quilt wall hanging.

    Anime watch party, Japanese pop culture part of event

    WOODBURN: There will be an anime watch party on Monday, May 13, at 4 p.m. at the Woodburn Public Library. The event is for ages 13-18 and is a free drop-in event to talk about your favorite manga, watch anime, and work on fun projects.

    Molalla Library planning STEAM fun on May 14

    MOLALLA: On Tuesday, May 14, Molalla Public Library will offer S.T.E.A.M. powered fun with Super Science, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The program, designed for elementary age students and parents, will focus on creating a secret identity, make a superhero fly and more.

    Wetland plant ID, field practicum coming to CCC

    OREGON CITY: George Kral, forester & founder of Ash Creek Forest Management, will deliver a lecture on wetland plant identification at Lakeside Hall at the Environmental Learning Center, Clackamas Community College, Oregon City Campus, 19600 Molalla Ave. He will also hold a field practicum in the Three Creeks Natural Area adjacent to Clackamas Community College’s Harmony Campus, 7738 S.E.     Maple syrup making on tap at local forest

    MULINO: The Hopkins Demonstration Forest will hold a bigleaf maple syrup workshop on Saturday, May 18. The event will feature a tour and a chance to see the equipment and technology for today’s maple syrup production. Learn how to turn maple sap into syrup.

    Woodburn Police gearing up for a May 18 open house

    WOODBURN: Woodburn Police Department announced that it is hosting an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at 1060 Mt. Hood Ave.

    Police Chief Marty Pilcher said there will be plenty of activities and free hot dogs and hamburgers.

    Powerland plans fun, engaging STEAM event for kids

    BROOKS: Powerland’s fourth Annual S.T.E.A.M.’d for Kids will be Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Powerland Heritage Park, 3995 Brooklake Road, Brooks.

    This is a playful and engaging twist on Powerland’s award-winning annual Great Oregon Steam-Up event. It’s tailored specifically for young explorers and offers an array of activities, from a miniature train ride and a scavenger hunt to hands-on craft building and a Steam Traction Engine transporting guests in a wagon geared for fun.

    Annual UFO festival lands in McMinnville May 17-18

    MCMINNVILLE: McMenamins 24th Annual UFO Fest will be May 17-18 in McMinnville and will feature speakers at the town’s community center, including former Navy pilot Ryan Graves; Pulitzer Prize finalist, journalist and author Garrett Graff, who “will address the realities of the government’s quest to understand UFOs;” and Roderick Martin, whose talk is headlined “Project B.L.A.C.K. and the Hidden Truths.”

    Local libraries will be closed for Memorial Day

    Registration for Woodburn soccer tournament opened

    Woodburn Fire District slates ground-breaking event

    WOODBURN: Woodburn Fire District will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the district’s new fire station on Friday, June 7, at 10 a.m.

    The site, located at 13925 Butteville Road NE, is south of Parr Road and north of Gervais. It has limited parking availability.

    Firefighters slate annual bingo fundraiser coming in June

    AURORA: The Aurora Rural Firefighters, District 63, will hold their 49th Annual Bingo Night on Saturday, June 9, at the Donald Fire Station.

    Proceeds to go the Wayne Yoder Memorial Scholarship Fund and community events. Dinner will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., bingo games will start at 6:30 p.m.

    Menu includes hamburger, hot dog, chips, and drink for $7. Bingo games cost $1 per game, and an additional $1 for each extra card. Door prizes will also be available.

    Molalla’s Music in the Park slate ready for June start

    MOLALLA: Tuesday evening air will be filled with the sound of music coming from Molalla’s Fox Park in 2024.

    The Molalla Public Library returns with another edition of its Music in the Park program for the coming summer. The action runs every Tuesday from June 18 through July 30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

    Canby’s Farmers Market is up and running Saturdays

    CANBY: The Canby Farmers Market opened its 2024 is now open and will run every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown Canby on N. Holly Street between NW 2nd and 4th avenues.

    The market will run into October and produce from local farmers, hand crafters, food artisans and plenty of other vendors.

    NMSD begins superintendent search, seeking feedback

    AURORA: North Marion School District announced that it has officially launched its search for a new superintendent as interim Superintendent Bill Rhoades plans to retire on June 30.

    More Molalla town halls slated for later in the year

    MOLALLA: The City of Molalla will hold three more town halls to offer residents the chance to talk about city-related topics in a little more relaxed atmosphere.

    The next town hall will be on June 20. The final two will be held Sept. 19 and Nov. 21. The meetings will be at the Molalla Civic Center (315 Kennel Ave.) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

    Christian writers conference returns to Canby Grove

    CANBY: The 2024 Cascade Christian Writers Conference will be held June 23-26 at the Canby Grove Christian Center. The conference is a way for writers, or aspiring writers to not only meet with literary agents, acquisition agents, and inspirational mentors, but take part in myriad workshops targeted to particular parts of the writing process.

    Hotrod Dreamworks ready for 15th edition of its car show

    WOODBURN: Applications are now open for the 2024 Woodburn Fiesta Mexican Court. To be eligible for the Woodburn Fiesta Mexicana Court, individuals must be a student enrolled in any of the following high schools: Woodburn, Gervais, North Marion, Mt. Angel, St. Paul or Silverton. A student who lives within the listed school districts and is home schooled or attending a high school equivalent institution or charter school is also eligible to apply; A high school Junior or graduating senior during the 2023/2024 school year; In possession of a 2.5 GPA of or better (must submit current high school transcript); Bi-lingual in both English and Spanish.

    CANBY: The Canby High School class of 2004 is planning its 20th class reunion with a “save the date” announcement for the Saturday, July 27, event at Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm.

    Canby High class of 1974 organizing a 50th class reunion

    CANBY: The Canby High School class of 1974 is in the process of planning its 50th class reunion on Sunday, Sept. 8, at Merrywood Farms in Carus.

    Portland Timbers supporters group meets in Canby

    CANBY: The local Portland Timbers support group, Timbers Army Clackamas County Frogmen, will meet at the F.O.B. Taproom in Canby cheer on the MLS team for every game this season, except those on Wednesday nights.

    The game will be shown on a large pull-down screen and the fun will include snacks and patches and stickers for sale. Beverages are available on site, and food can be purchased outside of the taproom and brought in during the game. All area Timbers fans are encouraged to stop by.

    Throw-back music and classic car show set for Colton

    COLTON: The annual Summer Finally Got Here concert and classic car show will be held Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Aspen Meadow Amphitheater, 24323 S. Upper Highland Road in Colton.
