SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Calvary Day is hopefully well-rested after being in a dog fight with Morgan County in the second round of the playoffs.

The Cavaliers did earn the sweep, but the second game is one they will not forget soon. Calvary Day won 7-6 in a contest that went 12 innings. Coach Phillip Lee described it as one of the best games he’s ever been a part of in his career. However, his team does not have time to reflect on the win. They have to prepare for Dawson County—the number two seed out of Region 7.

“They’ve got a good righty and good lefty on the mound,” senior Caden Arnold said. “Kind of like what we saw from Morgan County and kind of like what we have in our pitching staff. So we are ready and we are used to that.”

“Winning a state championship has been my goal all four years,” senior Will Hampton said. “This is the last year I have. So, I’m definitely going out there and giving it my all for sure. It would be great if we made it to the Final Four and then State.”

Calvary Day is fortunate to be at home. The format for this three-game series is Saturday and if necessary on Monday. The doubleheader starts Saturday at 1 p.m. at Grayson.
