BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. (WBOY) — While looking for a wanted person in Preston County, authorities arrested a different man for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

On May 1, troopers with the Preston County detachment of the West Virginia State Police executed an arrest warrant at a home on Hileman Road in Bruceton Mills because they believed that a wanted person was there, according to a criminal complaint.

When troopers arrived, they made contact with two people inside of a vehicle in the driveway, one of whom was identified as Brooks Reckart, 60, of Bruceton Mills, troopers said.

After Reckart exited the vehicle and was detained, troopers saw “in plain view” a bag containing what they presumed to be crack rock cocaine and small folds of paper containing presumed fentanyl or heroin, according to the complaint.

At that point, troopers searched the vehicle and found 28 “small folds” of suspected heroin/fentanyl, which did field test positive as containing fentanyl, troopers said.

Reckart has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He is being held in Tygart Valley Regional Jail on $75,000 bond.
