Etowah County schools superintendent Alan Cosby and Emma Samson graduate Pat Adikson will be honored for their years of officiating by the Alabama Sports Officials Foundation as they will be inducted into the organization's Hall of Fame this August.

Cosby began officiating in 1989 at the high school level and worked with Adikson for his first game. Cosby broke into the collegiate ranks in 1992, where he has worked for the Gulf South Conference, SWAC, Sun Belt and some JUCO conferences. He served as the AHSAA Northeast district director for a time as well. He worked the 2006 National JUCO Championships and worked the NCAA Division II Elite Eight the next year.

"It's very humbling, its an honor. I've been officiating or part of officiating for 35 years. It's just humbling like I said cause you remember a lot of the games, a lot of the places that you went, a lot of the exciting moments. More than anything you remember the people you form friendships with, that's you got to know over the years," Cosby said.

Adkison worked as an official for 39 years in football and wrestling among sports for the AHSAA. He also was an official at the college level. He worked with the Amateur Softball Association as the chief umpire in Alabama for 15 years.

The Hall of Fame ceremony will be August 3.
