By now there’s no question that the hate Kendrick Lamar has for Drake runs deep. And with the release of his diss track, “euphoria” a six-minute opus dedicated to absolutely eviscerating Drake that he later admitted to originally being 19 minutes long, there’s really no denying that fact.

He hates the way Drake acts, talks and walks, and according to DJ Akademiks , he really hates the way Drake tried to play nice while they still “got some s*** to address.” A revelation the Akademiks dropped during his May 2 livestream when he revealed that Drake had actually asked Lamar to appear on his 2023 hit, "First Person Shooter.”

While "First Person Shooter” is debated to be the embers that started the flame of this very public Drake vs. Lamar battle for all of us to bare witness, the J. Cole featured track that has him and Drizzy exchanging bars about being the best of their generation, shouting out Lamar as the third in the so-called "Big Three,” isn’t where the conflict necessarily began. According to a GQ breakdown of the beef, that’s been reportedly simmering for years.

Despite that, Drake’s original intentions for "First Person Shooter,” according to DJ Akademiks, was for Cole and Lamar to contribute verses, however Lamar wanted nothing to do with him or the song. Kendrick was actually so put off by the offer, it led to him to write the "Like That" verse, the contribution that really opened up this pandora’s box of public annihilation.

"Drake hit up Kendrick," Akademiks said. "Now, if you think about this entire timeline and beef with that in mind, makes sense... I'm hearing that 'First Person Shooter' was a song intended to be with the 'Big Three.' I'm hearing that verses were reworked because Kendrick Lamar did not respond to the feature request." While Drake is not the source of these claims, Ak assured viewers that the information was gathered on good authority.

Further adding to it’s confirmation, on “euphoria”’s third verse Kendrick references a feature request that Drake made, rapping, "Surprised you wanted that feature request… You know that we got some s*** to address.”

In addition to sharing the "First Person Shooter" claims, Akademiks also shot down a rumor made by DJHed , that Drake had plans to drop a response diss the very next day, on May 3. Ak squashed the hear-say during a phone call with Kai Cenat , streamed live, telling him, “Drake’s not dropping tonight…he’s dropping soon though, but not tonight.”

While Drake didn’t have plans to drop a track the following day, Kendrick clearly did. Doubling down with another diss track, “6:16 in LA.” which he dropped on IG, early Friday morning.

Kendrick takes aim at Drake’s OVO crew throughout the new track, rapping “Have you ever thought that OVO was workin’ for me? / Fake bully, I hate bullies, you must be a terrible person / Everyone in your team is whispering that you deserve it.” Name checking one of Drake’s hits with the line, “Can’t ‘Toosie Slide’ out of this one / it’s just gon’ resurface.”

Later adding, “If you were street smart, then you woulda caught that your entourage is only to hustle you / A hunnid n****s that you got on salary, and twenty of ’em want you as a casualty.”

Well folks, that’s the latest… Listen to “6:16 in LA” below, as we wait for the inevitable next move in The Great Rap Beef of 2024 .
