Jodi Emerson launches bid for reelection in 91st Assembly District

EAU CLAIRE (WKBT) -- Eau Claire Democrat Jodi Emerson is seeking reelection in the State Assembly.

The 49-year-old Eau Claire native has held the seat since 2018.

In a campaign launch announcement Thursday in Eau Claire, Emerson said public education funding and health care accessibility are some of her top priorities.

Emerson's district used to be contained to the city of Eau Claire. It will now contain the eastern half of the city and stretch east in Eau Claire County to add towns like Fall Creek, Augusta and Fairchild.

She said more competitive state maps will mean more Democratic issues will get their time in Madison than they have in previous Legislatures.

"There's a lot of good ideas my constituents have had that I've written into bills that haven't gotten debated, simply because it came from a Democrat. Having a little bit more of a fair split means my constituents' ideas are going to be heard a lot more," Emerson said.

In Madison, Emerson serves as Vice Chair of the Speaker's Task Force on Human Trafficking. She's also on several committees covering higher education, rural development, housing and criminal justice.
