JESUP, Ga. (WSAV) – A Wayne County student was hospitalized Monday after losing consciousness during a fight.

According to a police report made by a Jesup officer, two students got into a fight, throwing punches in the lunchroom area of Wayne County High School around 1 p.m.

As the officer attempted to stop the fight, one student reportedly picked up the other and slammed him into the concrete floor.

The student “lost all consciousness,” and Wayne County EMS was called to the scene.

He was transported for treatment and remains hospitalized at this time.

Meanwhile, the other student was taken to the principal’s office for questioning.

According to the officer’s report, the student was looking at a video of the altercation on his cell phone. The student gave his phone to the officer, along with his passcode, when asked.

The juvenile then told the assistant principal, “They have been beefing over text messages for a while and today was the day he had enough of it,” the officer reported.

The student was arrested and charged with aggravated battery and taken to a youth detention center in Wayne County.
