    1. Free Comic Book Day in Melbourne

    Famous Faces and Funnies , 3020 W. New Haven Ave., W. Melbourne, will give customers 10 free comics every Saturday in May, kicking off with a special event on Saturday, May 4 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Guests will include costumed characters, fan-favorite artist Karl Moline as well as other local artists, who will draw one free quick sketch per person as time allows.     2. ‘Stars, Stripes & Songs’ concert in Suntree

    The Brevard Youth Chorus presents a free concert of all-American and patriotic music on Sunday, May 5 at 3 p.m. at Advent Lutheran Church, 7550 N. Wickham Road, Suntree. The young singers in grades 4 through 10 will sing patriotic songs including "America the Beautiful," "My Country 'Tis of Thee" and "You're a Grand Old Flag." Admission is free.     3. Hero Fest on Merritt Island

    Celebrate Brevard's first responders with a day of gratitude and community at the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center, 400 S. Sykes Creek Parkway, Merritt Island, on Sunday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public is invited to show appreciation for law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, dispatchers and other first responders.     4. Paws for Cinco de Mayo in Cocoa Village

    Bring your canine companion for an afternoon of fun at Milpa Tacos y Tortillas, 207 Brevard Ave., Cocoa Village, on Sunday, May 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be raffle baskets, a 50/50 drawing, bingo and more. Artist Lori Prell will be available for caricature drawings and face painting. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit Touch of Grey Rescue . All pets must be on a leash, or in appropriate carriers, and have current vaccinations and county tags. Admission is free. Call 321-305-4584.

    5. Fun Friday concert in Palm Bay

    Pop/rock band Joules Rio will give a free concert at Fun Friday on Friday, May 3 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 2225 Port Malabar Road, Palm Bay. The event will also feature craft vendors, food trucks, a kids zone and more. Visit palmbayflorida.org .

    6. Vietnam and All Veterans Reunion in Wickham Park

    The largest gathering of veterans has its 36th annual Florida event at Wickham Park, 2500 Parkway Drive, Melbourne, on Thursday through Sunday, May 9 through 12. The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall arrives on Sunday, May 5 with an escort of motorcycles, first responders and others beginning at 10 a.m. from the EFSC Cocoa campus. The event will have live music, military vendors and displays, food and more, and is open to veterans as well as the general public. Admission is free. Visit floridaveteransreunion.com .

    • Spring Fling Art Show in Cocoa: The Artist Connection Gallery , 1222 Dixon Blvd., Cocoa, hosts the Spring Fling art show on Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5 starting at 10 a.m. each day. The family-friendly event features artists, crafters, vendors, food trucks and more. Admission is free. Call 321-261-4720 or visit theartistconnectiongallery.com .
    • Meet the artists at Studios of Cocoa Beach: The Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minutemen Causeway, presents an exhibition titled “Two Artists, Two Styles,” on display through June 2. The featured artists are “Baby Lemonade,” also known as Samantha Deebel, who describes her art as “cosmic abstract expressionism,” and Jax Kwok, whose work celebrates the beauty of nature with touches of whimsy and fantasy.     • Kricket Moros exhibition at Downtown Art Gallery: The Downtown Art Gallery , 400 Orange Street, Titusville, will feature the paintings of Kricket Moros from May 1 through 25. Moros’ signature style is portraits in bold, happy colors, with bright eyes and elements of cheer.
