CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – It’s time once again for the Empty the Shelters event, which means starting Wednesday, May 1, the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association is having a special on adoptions.

Adoptions for all adult dogs and for cats and kittens are just $50. That price includes a spay or neuter, microchipping and vaccinations.

The event is all part of the seasonal Bissell Pet Foundation’s “Empty the Shelters” initiative.

“Not only are you helping the specific animal that you’re adopting, but when you take an animal out of our shelter, that creates a space and staff workload for us to help other animals in Kanawha County that need us, and trust me, there are certainly a lot of them that need us right now,” said KCHA Community Engagement Manager Angie Gillenwater.

The adoption special runs until May 15.
