DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Ron Arnold is running for reelection in the race for the Daviess County Commissioner District One seat against Tracy “TC” Cook.

Before his time in office, Arnold served as the executive director of the county’s economic development corporation. He said that experience has helped him tremendously over the past four years.

“I’ve got a pretty good background in developing things and working with a lot of talented individuals, you look at Westgate Technology Park,” he said. “ I can name project after project, and even the updates to the community on the public side, the U.S. 50 bypass, a variety of things. They had an expansion in the Odon area. I just want to see that continue.”

Where do I go to vote in the Indiana primary election?

Arnold’s main goals are to continue growing the local economy and find ways to lower tax rates for residents. He said at first he wasn’t sure if he would want to run again, but when he remembered all the work he’s put in over the years– he didn’t have any doubts.

“It kind of energized me again and brought back some of the fire to do what I set out to do 10-15 years ago,” he said. “We’re about 80% through that, if we can get 100% through it which I think we can do in the next four years, I think people will be amazed not just in Daviess County, but around the state on how Daviess County has operated.”

He said he is looking forward to May 7th– when “the voters will decide” what’s best for the community going forward, but he believes his passion for the area has shined over his career.

“Being retired gives me more time to work on the county issues, and I love Daviess County. We have a lot of good people here,” he said.

The Indiana primary is on Tuesday, May 7.
