YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — With the help of several local high school students, the space set aside for people visiting the Mahoning County Prosecutor’s Victim-Witness Office will be a bit brighter.

Prosecutor Gina DeGenova hosted a reception Wednesday morning for a display of artwork depicting the theme “Hope and Healing.”

More than 60 pieces were submitted for consideration from students at different high schools around the county.

The prosecutor says rather than creating a single permanent mural, she hopes to make this a yearly event.

“Inspiring portraits on an annual basis will allow us to not only keep changing out these pictures but also impact more students with the ability to provide such great artwork to help victims in our office,” Mahoning County Prosecutor Gina DeGenova said.

The award-winning pieces will eventually be displayed in the lower level of the courthouse just outside the Victim Witness offices.
