    Thousands were without power in Virginia’s Northern Neck area

    UPDATE: Power has been restored.

    WESTMORELAND, Va. (WRIC) — Thousands of customers in the Northern Neck area of Virginia are without power.

    According to Dominion Energy’s outage map , more than 11,000 customers are without power in Virginia’s Northern Neck area on Wednesday, May 1.

    The outage was caused by a car accident on a transmission pole owned by the Northern Neck Electric Cooperative’s transmission provider, according to a spokesperson for the Northern Neck Electric Cooperative.

    Crews are actively working to restore power. According to Dominion Energy, power is expected to be restored between 5 and 8 p.m. Wednesday.
