Way Too Early 2025 NFL Draft Quarterback Rankings

The 2024 NFL Draft is in the books which means we don’t have anything football related to be excited about for a few months. As we gear up for next football season, I’m going to be releasing my way too early 2025 NFL Draft rankings to get you up to speed on the prospects you need to know. We’re starting with the quarterback rankings. Enjoy them and feel free to comment on any disagreements you have.

If you’re still itching for more football, check out FanDuel Football Bets !

    25: Dequan Finn (Baylor)

Finn, 23, just played five years at Toledo and will finish up at Baylor. Checks in at 6-foot-2, 205, and can bring a duel threat attack to the offense. He’s posted some prolific rushing totals over the last three years. Needs to improve as a passer. It’s good enough to crack the list. Don’t expect much but he’s a name to monitor. Maybe a breakout campaign is in store.

    24: Cam Rising (Utah)

Rising, 24, is about to undergo his 7th season of college football. Half his problem is the fact that he’s quite literally never on the field. We didn’t see him for a single snap in 2023. He did some really nice things in 2021 and 2022. He’s got some gritty gamer qualities to him. Maybe he can be the next Gardner Minshew success story. That’s about the peak of his NFL powers. Hopefully, he can actually stay on the field this year.

2024 NFL Draft Grades: AFC East

    23: Grayson McCall (NC State)

McCall was a hot name a few years ago . That’s cooled off considerably after a downward trajectory at Coastal Carolina. In 2023 through seven games, McCall posted a 10-6 TD to INT ratio. It’s just not good enough.

We’re going to see what he’s really made of now as he now will start for NC State against real competition. Always has had good size but needs to become a real quarterback. Does too much running around without pushing the ball down the field. His rushing totals have also come way down in recent years. Right now he’s a slightly rich man’s version of Devin Leary with more size. We’ll see if he can improve his stock in 2024.

    22: Kyle McCord (Syracuse)

Bang on Kyle McCord all you want. Maybe he’s not elite enough to be the Ohio State quarterback. I also think he did a fine job last year completing 66% of his throws and posting a 24-6 TD to INT ratio. Still on the younger side (21) and has good height on him at 6-foot-3. He’s not untalented. Will be the best quarterback Syracuse has had in a long time. We’ll see how it plays out on the field in the Fall.

    21: Tyler Shough (Louisville)

Nothing about the raw numbers indicates Shough should even make the list. We just know how the NFL works. Ceiling mattes so much with these quarterbacks. Shough very well may never figure it out but he’s got one last chance to do so. Shough checks in at 6-foot-5, 230, with a big arm, and is mobile. He probably is an upgrade for Louisville over what they had with Jack Plummer. Don’t sleep on the Cards. They might be dark horses in the ACC again. If the light bulb comes on, Shough will have interest from teams.

2024 NFL Draft Grades: AFC North

    20: Jalon Daniels (Kansas)

Injuries killed Daniels in 2023. He was electric in 2022 posting over 400 rushing yards and completing over 66% of his throws. Still on the shorter side at 6-foot and probably will never be a high end franchise quarterback. Still might have a Tyrod Taylor future as a high level backup that can move. There is talent here. Let’s hope health is on his side in 2024.

    19: KJ Jefferson (UCF)

Is anybody else excited to watch this smoke-and-mirrors offense at UCF? Doesn’t KJ Jefferson just feel perfect for Gus Malzahn? Jefferson, 22, played five years at Arkansas before the move. He has a lot of starts under his belt and there is no question he’s improved as a passer over the years. He’s a big body too at 6-foot-3, 247. A guy that should call his own number to help out in short-yardage situations. If Jefferson puts it together at UCF, he’s going to have interest.

2024 NFL Draft Grades: AFC South

    18: Will Howard (Ohio State)

This one is hard. If Ohio State had a more trustworthy quarterback, I’d hammer them to win the National Title. Howard is truly one of the biggest wildcards for this class. Multiple things can be true at once.

A: Avery Johnson is better than him and Howard probably had to leave Kansas State.

B: He’s an upgrade over Kyle McCord and brings way more rushing ability to the table.

C: He’s coming off his best season and has really good size at 6-foot-5, 242.

Last year was the first year he completed over 60% in his four years at K State. Now he has a bounty of weapons and Chip Kelly as the playcaller. If he fails, it’s on him. I’m just not sure he will. Still needs to improve by leaps and bounds as a passer to be considered a real NFL prospect.

    17: Kurtis Rourke (Indiana)

I’m really excited to watch Rourke sling it this year. His 2023 was cut short due to injury (a game I watched and noted in the Stock notes ). However, I loved what I saw the year prior . 6-foot-5, 231, and really comfortable in the dropback pass game. Guy can play. We’re about to find out just how much now that he’s playing in the Big 10.

    16: Cade Klubnik (Clemson)

Klubnik was highly recruited out of the state of Texas. We just haven’t really seen it yet. Honestly, he looks like just another Texas quarterback like Case Keenum and Baker Mayfield. You know the type. Can sling it but is reckless while also bringing middle tier athletic traits to the table. I’m just not sure how good he is and the fact that he didn’t take a big leap with Garrett Riley is concerning. Still young with age on his side but I need better than a 55 QBR. Not positive he even declares and probably shouldn’t if he has another shaky year.

2024 NFL Draft Grades: AFC West

    15: Noah Fifita (Arizona)

I’m not sure Fifita is a real NFL quarterback but this dude is fun to watch. Has a gunslinger mentality to him. The Arizona product completed 72.4% of his throws as a redshirt freshman. I’m not sure he’s actually that accurate but he was a lightning rod last year. Has things to improve upon still. Needs to be a better threat running the ball and limit the dumb sacks. I’m not sure he can fix the fact that he’s 5-foot-11, 194. Looks like a poor man’s Bryce Young.

    14: Preston Stone (SMU)

Stone was pretty damn good in his first season as a starter. He notched a 28-6 TD to INT ratio while registering a 9.3 yards per attempt average. Another one of these Texas quarterbacks that they seem to produce all the time. You can kinda put up video game numbers at SMU without actually being good. Tanner Mordecai did that. However, Stone has a chance to improve on what he did last year and they’re in the ACC now so it’s against better competition. Should be fun to watch.

2024 NFL Draft Grades: NFC East

    13: Brock Vandagriff (Kentucky)

I’ll bet every dollar I have that Vandagriff is better than what Devin Leary gave Kentucky last year. That’s a lock. It’s also not a high bar considering that Leary blows and completed 56% of his throws as a 5th year player.

Vandagriff has way better arm talent. We’ve just never really seen him because he’s been waiting in the wings at Georgia. Vandagriff checks in at 6-foot-3, 210, and can actually throw the ball unlike Leary. He probably is actually a better pure passer (Just not as much gas) than when Will Levis was at Kentucky.

I expect good things from Vandagriff. Not sure he’s going to light the world on fire but people will be pleasantly surprised.

    12: DJ Uiagalelei (Florida State)

We’ve been over this a million times. It’s the Joe Milton story for this upcoming year. Big arm. Has all the size and tools. Just can’t process to save his life. Maybe one day he will. It will be a big test for him at FSU after transferring there .

    11: Riley Leonard (Notre Dame)

I think we saw the warts last year. Did a really nice job at being Daniel Jones last year . Now he transferred to Notre Dame. Has a basketball background and checks in at 6-foot-4, 212. Does a really good job as a runner. I just can’t get on board with a guy that threw three touchdowns on a good Duke team in seven games. That’s so gross. He needs to start becoming a real quarterback now. Has tools to work with. We’ll see how it looks with the Irish this year.

2024 NFL Draft Grades: NFC North

    10: Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss)

Got playing time right away as a freshman at USC but pretty much had to leave as soon as Lincoln Riley and Caleb Williams showed up. He’s improved during his time with Ole Miss. A program that’s brought in so many transfers at the position and Dart continues to prove he’s the guy there. Spencer Sanders never had a prayer at stealing this job.

Dart is coming off his best collegiate season throwing for 23 touchdowns at a 9.4 yard per attempt clip. That’s while adding eight more rushing touchdowns. Ole Miss is all loaded up around him for an even better season to come in 2024. He can become a more mobile Jared Goff if he improves as a pocket passer. I’m not sure that’s ever going to happen but he has talent and has been collecting meaningful starts in the SEC.

    9: Conner Weigman (Texas A&M)

Short sample size after his 2023 season was wrecked because of injury. With that said, Weigman has showed out in less than ideal circumstances. Last year as a true sophomore, he completed 69% of his throws. That’s while having a 16-2 TD to INT ratio with Jimbo Fisher running the show. What happens now that Mike Elko is there?

Weigman has talent. Was recruited highly (was a five star) and checks in at 6-foot-3, 215. He’s easily the best Texas A&M quarterback they have had in the last ten years. That’s not a question. Has good zip and the ball comes out quick. He can move too. Don’t be surprised if he shoots up the board in 2025.

    8: Dillon Gabriel (Oregon)

Dillon Gabriel is good. I don’t know what more the guy has to do to prove that. We talked about it last year a bunch. Over the last two years, Gabriel threw 55 touchdowns and added another 18 on the ground. That’s while completing over 69% last year. He’s short but is also a baller. Now he steps into the Bo Nix role at Oregon and I think he’s going to thrive at it. He might be better than Nix…

    7: Jalen Milroe (Alabama)

Give Milroe this. He improved so much as a passer during his time with the Tide. His passing numbers improved by leaps and bounds across the board. It’s a matter of what he can do in his second year as the full time starter. We already know he’s an incredible athlete. That’s with a 6-foot-2, 220 frame. Right now he’s really good at throwing the ball deep and taking off in the run game. If he can mix in all the other passing elements, Milroe is going to go high in the draft. The rushing ability he has can’t be undersold. The 40 time here is going to be really nasty in a good way.

    6: Drew Allar (Penn State)

Okay, I jumped the gun a bit last year. That’s on me. He was awful last year. 6.8 yards per attempt while completing less than 60% just isn’t going to cut it. He looked slow in his processing and just never made a play. Still, for as bad as it was he still compiled a 25-2 TD to INT ratio. I don’t think we should give up here.

Allar, a former five star, is still really raw with a great tool box. He’s 6-foot-5, 243, and can rip it with plus running potential. Will it click with a new offensive coordinator? How much was the old coordinator to blame? We’re going to find out. Don’t sell your stock yet but there is no denying how important this year is for him.

2024 NFL Draft Grades: NFC South

    5: Garrett Nussmeier (LSU)

Brett Favre. That’s what I see here. This dude just rips it with a IDGAF attitude. Gunslinger who makes big plays down the field. No, he won’t be the rushing threat that Jayden Daniels was but he’s a way better pocket passer. You see the Bowl game against Wisconsin ? I think he’s better than Daniels (which I guess is hard to say after Daniels won the Heisman but it’s how I feel).

This will be his first shot as a full time starter. If he can limit the mistakes and make big plays down the field, he’s going high in the draft. Just be ready for it. LSU will be just fine here.

    4: Cam Ward (Miami)

This is where we start getting into the fun territory. I’ll say it again. The best quarterback that played in the state of Washington last year was Cam Ward and I’m not sure how you argue it. He was better than Michael Penix Jr when they were on the same field and had A LOT less to work with.

Now Ward is at Miami . I won’t lie, I’m worried about meat head Mario Cristobal. He made some really nice plays down the field last year and can run. I think he’s got the IT factor. Checks in at 6-foot-2, 223, with a nice arm on him. Not overly fast and a late riser starting his career at Incarnate Word but this dude makes throws. I really like him. If he saves Miami, his NFL Draft stock will soar.

    3: Shedeur Sanders (Colorado)

Considering that I’m the only person in America that tried to tell you Shedeur Sanders was good before he ever took a snap at Colorado, maybe you should trust the things I’m telling you. Now everyone has him at the top of their mocks when he was quite literally mocked prior to that. Funny how that works. Sanders is good. Needs to stop escaping the pocket early but his line was brutal last year. Showed a ton of good things last year before they ran out of gas. He’s got another level to climb and if he does, Sanders should be one of the first names off the board next year.

    2: Quinn Ewers (Texas)

Ewers was a monster recruit and we finally saw glimpses of that last year. It was perfect. Some unforced errors that became picks. For the most part, he was really good and if he builds on that he’s going to go high this year. Last year he was at 69% at an 8.8 YPA clip. Not overly big at 6-foot-2, 195 but he’s got a really beautiful arm on him. Still just 21 and some maturity along the edges of his game will show this year. When those things happen, expect interest to be high.

2024 NFL Draft Grades: NFC West

    1: Carson Beck (Georgia)

I would have thought about picking Carson Beck first if he was in the 2024 NFL Draft. I like him that much. I don’t know how you can watch him last year and not feel that way. We talked about Beck a ton last year because I thought he was so good that he was going to declare.

There is so much to like here. 6-foot-4, 220, and converted third down like a maniac. Georgia was 51% last year, which is just insane while playing in the SEC. Threw for nearly 4,000 yards in his first year as the starter while taking his foot off the gas in several blowout wins. Not a crazy runner but he can do it. Did a really good job at avoiding sacks and averaged 9.5 YPA. I think he’s really good and would have no problem turning the card in for him right now.
