Keep an eye on these 38 high school boys tennis players in Wisconsin this spring

The high school boys tennis season is in full swing in Wisconsin with players and teams building toward the postseason, which begins May 20 with WIAA subsectional play around the state.

The individual state tournament is May 30 to June 1 and the team state tournament is June 7-8, both at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.

Here are 38 of the best players to watch in Wisconsin this season.

Surya Arvind, sr., Brookfield Central

Was the No. 5 seed in Division 1 singles at last season’s WIAA state tournament and won two matches, advancing to the quarterfinals before losing to No. 4 seed Sam Klein of Brookfield East.

Wesley Auth, jr., St. Mary Catholic

Was the No. 8 seed in Division 2 singles at the state tournament last season. Won his first two matches before losing to top seed and eventual state champion Max Watchmaker of University School of Milwaukee in the quarterfinals. Won another match in the consolation bracket and ended up taking sixth place.

Sonu Beeram, sr., New Berlin Eisenhower

Was the No. 5 seed in Division 2 singles at state last season and won two matches before losing in the quarterfinals to No. 4 seed Anderson Fortney of La Crosse Aquinas.

Grant Bergstrom, sr., and Harry Bergstrom, jr., St. Mary Catholic

The Zephyrs pair was the No. 7 seed at state last season but lost in the first round of the Division 2 doubles bracket.

Nick Bittner, sr., and Nate Hall, sr., Appleton Xavier

Bittner and Hall were the No. 1 seed in Division 2 doubles last season. They won two matches before losing to the No. 4-seeded team of Vibhu Guda and Sanjit Madireddi of Brookfield Academy in the semifinals, but came back to win the third-place match.

Aidan Burich, sr., Green Bay Notre Dame

Played doubles last season with senior Mason Olson and earned the No. 16 seed at state in Division 1. They won their first match before losing in the second round.

Ethan Bo, jr., Middleton

Took third place at state last season in Division 1 singles after being the No. 3 seed. He advanced to the semifinals before losing to No. 2 seed Nicholas Balthazor of De Pere, then beat Klein in the third-place match.

Oscar Corwin, sr., Brookfield East

Was the No. 1 seed in Division 1 singles last season and won the state championship with a three-set victory over Balthazor in the final.

Alex Dziubek, sr., Franklin

Won two matches in Division 1 singles at the state tournament last season as the No. 14 seed before losing to Bo in the round of 16.

Aidan Ferber, sr., Milwaukee Marquette

Played doubles last season with Jack Eisenbrown and earned the No. 8 seed in Division 1. They advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to the top-seeded team from Nicolet.

Anderson Fortney, jr., La Crosse Aquinas

Took third place at state last season in Division 2 singles after earning the No. 4 seed. He lost in the semifinals to top-seeded Watchmaker.

Gianni Frausto, so., and Cavin Baltus, so., Plymouth

They earned the No. 6 seed in Division 2 doubles last season but lost in the first round.

Miles Gourlay, jr., and Jack Gilpin, jr., University School of Milwaukee

They finished in fifth place at state last season in Division 2 doubles after entering the tournament as the No. 2 seed.

Vibhu Guda, sr., and Sanjit Madireddi, jr., Brookfield Academy

Were the No. 4 seed at state last season in Division 2 doubles and ended up taking second place, losing to Brookfield Academy teammates Peyton Zeiler and Garv Bhasin in the championship match.

Keenan Haws, jr., Cedarburg

Earned the No. 3 seed at state in Division 1 doubles last season with his brother, Chatton, and they took second place.

Kyle Hehli, jr., West Salem

Took fifth place at state last season in Division 2 singles after entering the tournament as the No. 3 seed.

Joshua Horak, sr., Appleton Xavier

Was the No. 7 seed at state last season in Division 2 singles and won two matches before falling in the quarterfinals to No. 2 seed Adrian Yin of Brookfield Academy.

Gokul Kamath, sr., Madison Memorial

Was the No. 12 seed at state last season in Division 1 doubles with senior Sam Weinbach. They won three matches before losing in the quarterfinals to the eventual state champions, then won twice in the consolation bracket to take fifth place.

CJ Kryscio, jr., Menomonee Falls

Was the No. 10 seed last season in Division 1 singles and won two matches before losing to No. 7 seed Ethan Yu of Madison West.

Hayden Latus, sr., Waukesha Catholic Memorial

Advanced to the semifinals in Division 2 singles last season as the No. 6 seed before losing to Yin and ended up taking fourth place.

Aiden Meixl, jr., Kimberly

Was the No. 8 seed at state last season in Division 1 singles. Won one match at state before losing to No. 9 seed Nolan Shaub of Union Grove in the round of 16.

Cole Neinas, sr., Germantown

Was the No. 15 seed at state in Division 1 doubles with senior Conner Pallan and won two matches before falling in the round of 16.

Jonathan Orth, jr., Racine Prairie

Took sixth place at state last season in Division 2 doubles with senior Calvin Sharpe after entering the tournament as the No. 5 seed.

Everett Reid, jr., Madison West

Was the No. 16 seed at state last season in Division 1 singles and won two matches before losing to eventual state champion Corwin in three sets in the round of 16.

Shayne Reinders, sr., Hartland Arrowhead

Was the No. 13 seed at state last season in Division 1 doubles with senior Emmett Jones and won two matches before losing to eventual state champion Lincoln Marshall and Daniel Egelhoff of Milwaukee Marquette in the round of 16.

Tyler Schneider, sr., Whitefish Bay

Won two matches at state last season in Division 1 singles as the No. 12 seed before losing to Arvind in three sets in the round of 16.

Andrey Semin, so., Brookfield Central

Won two matches at state last season in Division 1 singles as the No. 13 seed before losing to Klein in the round of 16.

Nolan Shaub, jr., Union Grove

Took fifth place at state last season in Division 1 singles as the No. 9 seed. Won his first three matches before losing to Corwin in the quarterfinals.

Gavin Sorensen, sr., Eau Claire Memorial

Was the No. 9 seed at state last season in Division 1 doubles with senior Seth Roosevelt. They won two matches before losing to Eisenbrown and Ferber in the round of 16.

Jacob Stinski, jr., Oshkosh West

Was a state qualifier last season in Division 1 singles and won his first-round match before losing to Reid in the second round.

Aaditya Tiwari, sr., Brookfield Central

Was the No. 7 seed at state in Division 1 doubles with senior Gabe Weitzer and they ended up taking sixth place.

Alex Yan, jr., Sussex Hamilton

Was the No. 5 seed at state in Division 1 doubles with senior Nathan Rose. They won one match before losing to Weinbach and Kamath in the round of 16.

Adrian Yin, sr., Brookfield Academy

Took second place at state in Division 2 singles, losing in three sets to Watchmaker in the championship match after entering the tournament as the No. 2 seed.
