Attending a charity gala is always a good idea, but attending a charity gala where five celebrity chefs will be doing the cooking?

    Now that's a really good idea .

That's right; on Tuesday May 7, a star-studded line-up of Jersey's top chefs will be gathering at the White Beeches Country Club in Haworth to serve a limited number of hungry guests a top-notch five course meal.

And, while you indulge in high quality eats at elegantly decorated tables? The Arc of Bergen and Passaic will be collecting your (tax deductible) bill in support of its 1,400 individuals with disabilities.

So, if philanthropy, formal dinner parties and special-edition menus are your type of thing? Read on — because this one-night-only feast is the event for you.

On Tuesday May 7, the Arc Foundation of Bergen and Passaic Counties — an organization dedicated to assisting individuals and their families with developmental and intellectual disabilities — will be hosting its third annual Shining Stars Gala .

Led by honorary executive chef David Burke (as well as White Beeches' upper management), the evening revolves around five locally-acclaimed chefs coming together to craft one incredible meal. An extended cocktail hour will begin the night, and live entertainment will set the mood. The courses begin after the cocktails end, and will include an appetizer, pasta, two entrées and dessert, each designed by a different chef.

AKA, the gala's pretty much going to feel like the "Be Our Guest Scene" from Beauty and the Beast.

But, instead of lamps and clocks doing the cooking? It'll be Claudia Rovegno of From Scratch , Jennifer Mais of Palma , John Vitale of Caffe Anello , Don Pintabona formerly of Tribeca Grill and White Beeches' own Ross Goldflam.

Top-notch eats for an important cause

All proceeds from the Shining Stars Gala will benefit people with disabilities, primarily Down Syndrome or Autism Spectrum Disorder, who would not be able to cope without the assistance of the Arc Foundation. Tickets are priced at $500 per person — but $425 of each is tax deductible — and sales ensure the organization will continue to be able to do its important work.

In exchange, attendees will enjoy all of the aforementioned eats and experiences, plus specialty cocktails, passed hors d'oeuvre and professional photographs.

And, though we won't completely spoil what's on this year's menu here, diners can expect roasted duck breast, vibrantly colored ravioli and lots and lots of charcuterie and cheese.

The Shining Stars Gala begins at 6 p.m. on Tuesday May 7 at White Beeches Golf and Country Club, 70 Haworth Dr., Haworth. Tickets can be purchased at shiningstarsgala.org .
