BERRYVILLE, Texas (KETK) – Berryville is located north of Frankston off of Highway 155 by Lake Palestine in Henderson County.
SMALL TOWN LIVE: Celebrating 175 years of friendly, beautiful Brownsboro What is now Berryville was bought land by James Berry, a butcher and grocer from Dallas, in 1958. James Berry later owned a grocery store in Berryville and was named its first mayor.
Berryville was founded by in 1871 and by 1885 it had a church, it’s own school district and two general stores and a reported population of 500. However, Berryville faced a decline in the community staring in the late 1890’s.
In 1905, the post office in Berryville closed and by the 1930’s only a church and a few houses remained. Lake Palestine being built in the 1960’s helped the town see some growth, by the 1980’s a community incorporated and population began to rise.
As of 2022, the population of Berryville is 883 people.
