MARTIN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — WTWO spoke with Cody Roush, the Republican incumbent in the Martin County Commissioner’s race in District 1.

Roush said he was born and raised in Martin County and has lived there most of his life. He added he worked in the coal industry for many years as well as the business sector.

Roush also said he ran his first term focused on change and as he seeks re-election, noted his campaign slogan is to “Sustain the change.”

Speaking on the issues, Roush said he shares the concerns many Martin County residents have with the proposed mid-states corridor project. He also said he’s working to address a housing shortage in Martin County.

“We want residents to move to Martin County,” Roush said. “We’ve got to have fiber optics. You’ve got to have infrastructure. It’s going to affect everybody in the county and it will help the county, if we can keep people in the county or moving to our county.”

WTWO will continue to report on the community’s elections as coverage continues. Indiana’s primary is Tuesday, May 7.
