    6-year-old ejected from vehicle during crash in critical condition, Stanton CSO says

    STANTON, Neb. ( KCAU ) — The Stanton County Sheriff’s office responded to a two-vehicle crash that sent both drivers and a six-year-old passenger to the hospital.

    According to a release , officials received the call at around 3:50 p.m. on Monday and were sent to the intersection of North Eastwood and Northeast Industrial Highway where the crash occurred.

    The release states that a woman was traveling south on North Eastwood and allegedly failed to yield and struck a Jeep traveling east on Northeast Industrial Highway. The collision forced both vehicles off the road and ejected the six-year-old passenger of the Jeep.

    The child was taken to a hospital in critical condition and with possible internal injuries, according to the release. Drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital as well.

    The release specified that investigators believe an improper-sized booster seat did not function properly during the crash. Seatbelts were in use and airbags were deployed in both vehicles.

    The vehicles are considered total losses.

    The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Woodland Park/Hoskins Fire and Rescue, Norfolk Rescue, and Stanton County Emergency Management.
