One person seriously injured after vehicle goes into lake in Woodford County

A 20-year-old man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following a crash Monday on Interstate 74 in Woodford County.

The Woodford County Sheriff's Office said that it received multiple calls Monday reporting that a vehicle left I-74 and proceeded to go into a lake. When deputies arrived, they found the vehicle off of eastbound I-74 at mile marker 111, with witnesses saying that it had crossed the median and went opposite lanes of traffic before diving into the water.

The officers had to remove the driver from the vehicle and determined that he had life-threatening injuries, requesting assistance from Life Flight to transport him to a local hospital. Traffic on eastbound I-74 was blocked while he was being prepared for transport.

The sheriff's office is continuing to investigate the incident.
