At Wednesday's meeting, the Sedgwick County Commission will recognize Corrections Officer Week. Commission Chair Ryan Baty tells KNSS News Sheriff Jeff Easter has made "significant progress" in hiring detention officers at the county jail. Baty says when he won a seat on the board, the county was "down 112 deputies." Now the jail has fewer than 25 openings. Baty says raising pay for the job has helped to fill those detention officer openings.

The Commission will hear a quarterly report on the County's finances. Baty says "the rules change monthly and quarterly from the federal government," and the finance staff has to "really stay on their toes."

Baty commented during his weekly visit with Steve and Ted in the morning on KNSS.
