The New Orleans Police Department is on the hunt for whoever murdered a man who reportedly had confronted the suspects in the Marigny neighborhood.

"The victim was located suffering from multi gunshot wounds," according to an initial police report on the killing in the 2400 block of Burgundy Street. "The victim was transported to a local hospital via NOEMS where he later succumbed to his wounds."

    It happened shortly before 1:30am.

Neighbors told WWL TV that the victim had seen the suspects pulling on car door handles, and confronted the burglars.

That's when NOPD says video captured the gunmen opening fire.

The victim survived the shooting and took off running.  Cops say the suspects then ran him over.

Osha Brooke lives nearby and heard the gunshots.

“I heard seven gunshots and jumped out of bed, and I heard a woman screaming, 'Help me, help me,' so, I called 911,” Brooke told WWL TV.
“They were trying to resuscitate him, and I watched him die here on the corner.”
