    CCSD Students Place at Elementary School State Science Fair

    Twenty-six Cherokee County School District students recently placed in the top three in their category at the Georgia College K-5 State Science Fair.

    The elementary school state science fair was held at Georgia College and State University.

    CCSD students also earned numerous additional prestigious statewide honors including both the Overall Grand Prize for Clark Creek Elementary School STEM Academy fifth-grader Pranav Vasishta and Best of Show honors for Bascomb Elementary School fifth-grader Hudson Gillentine.

    CCSD students additionally earned $50 awards sponsored by Cobb EMC and Gas South and special awards ranging from $25 to $50 from Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority. Cobb EMC and Gas South also sponsored the state fair registrations for all of CCSD’s participating students.

    CCSD Grand Category State Winners

    - Caroline Field, grade five, Johnston Elementary School - teacher Susan Turco.

    - Hudson Gillentine, grade five, Bascomb Elementary School - teacher Jennifer Mendenhall. Additional honor: Best of Show – Elementary, Excellence in Material Science Research, second place in STEM Design Challenge “Lift-Off Rockets” and Sponsor Award: Cobb EMC/Gas South.

    - Nora Porcello, grade five, Bascomb Elementary School - teacher Jennifer Mendenhall. Additional honors: Best of Life Sciences, second place in STEM Design Challenge “Lift-Off Rockets” and Sponsor Awards: Cobb EMC/Gas South and CCWSA.

    - Pranav Vasishta, grade five, Clark Creek Elementary School STEM Academy - teacher Karen Garland. Additional honors: Overall Grand Prize and Excellence in Mathematics Research.

    - Jake Allard, grade five, Macedonia Elementary School - teacher Georgia Knowlton. Additional honors: Excellence in Agricultural Research.

    - Luke Buchanan, grade five, Hickory Flat Elementary School - teacher Karina Dean. Additional honors: Sponsor Award: Cobb EMC/Gas South.

    - Arlo Falconer, grade three, Johnston Elementary School - teacher Susan Turco.

    - Rishabh Pandya, grade five, Clark Creek Elementary School STEM Academy - teacher Karen Garland. Additional honors: third place in STEM Design Challenge “Lift-Off Rockets."

    - Hannah Prosba, Makenna Seckington, grade three, Little River Elementary School - teacher Shaniqua Young.

    - Darhshan Ramprabu and Gow Ramprabu, grades five and four, Hickory Flat Elementary School - teacher Karina Dean. Additional honors: Sponsor Award: CCWSA.

    - Ananya Das, grade four, Clark Creek Elementary School STEM Academy - teacher Karen Garland. Additional honors: third place in STEM Design Challenge “Lift-Off Rockets."

    - Rex Huffer, grade three, Boston Elementary School - teacher Susan Stringfellow.

    - Elijah Mullins, Grayson Pressley and Kingston Te, grade five, Little River Elementary School - teacher Shaniqua Young. Additional honors: second place in STEM Design Challenge “Parachute Design.”

    - Tyler Nastasi, grade five, Hasty Elementary School Fine Arts Academy - teacher Georgia Knowlton. Additional honors: Excellence in Earth Science.

    - Callan O’Leary, grade five, R.M. Moore Elementary School STEM Academy - teacher Leo Pilla.

    - Carter Salamone, grade four, Avery Elementary School - teacher Katherine Wallace.

    - Addie Taylor and Emma Kate Wyatt, grade five, Macedonia Elementary School - teacher Georgia Knowlton.

    - JR Calhoun, grade four, Liberty Elementary School - teacher Julia Jones. Additional honors: Sponsor Awards: Cobb EMC/Gas South and CCWSA.

    - Shane Moffitt and Tristan Castillejos, grade five, Hasty Elementary School Fine Arts Academy - teacher Georgia Knowlton. Additional honors: Best of Health and Medical Sciences.

    - Ethan Pavsner, grade five, Woodstock Elementary School - teacher Kirsten Kern.
