How much do north central West Virginia poll workers get paid?

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — West Virginia’s 2024 Primary Elections on May 14 are rapidly approaching, with sample ballots available and the deadline to register to vote or update your voter registration on Tuesday.

Many north central West Virginia counties are looking for poll workers for the upcoming Primary Elections on Tuesday, May 14.

West Virginia will not accept voter registrations collected by Biden Administration

Here’s what each county requires of poll workers and how much they pay, according to workelections.org :

  • Barbour County
    • $125 for Election Day, $35 for in-person training which typically lasts 30 minutes.
    • Minimum age of 18, must be registered to vote in Barbour County.
    • Must work the whole day, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Doddridge County
    • $250 to $290 for Election Day and training. Training is in-person and typically lasts an hour to an hour and a half.
    • Minimum age of 16, must be registered to vote in Doddridge County if 18 or older.
    • Must work the whole day, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Gilmer County
    • $140 for Election Day and in-person training, which typically lasts for about an hour.
    • Minimum age of 16, must be registered to vote in Gilmer County if 18 or older.
    • Must work the whole day, 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Harrison County
    • $205 to $215 for Election Day. $30 for in-person training which typically lasts one and a half to two hours.
    • Minimum age of 16, must be registered to vote in Harrison County if 18 or older.
    • Must work the whole day, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Lewis County
    • $180 to $200. In-person training typically lasts two and a half to three hours.
    • Minimum age of 16, must be registered to vote in Lewis County if 18 or older.
    • The whole day is 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., but part-time shifts are available.
  • Marion County
    • $300 for Election Day and in-person training, which typically lasts one and a half to two hours.
    • Minimum age of 16, must be registered to vote in Marion County if 18 or older.
    • Must work the whole day, 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Monongalia County
    • $222 for Election Day and $50 for training if you work on Election Day. In-person training typically lasts one hour to one and a half hours. Workers who return election materials to election officials receive $15 and mileage if they need to drive to return materials.
    • Minimum age of 16, must be registered to vote in Monongalia County if 18 or older.
    • Must work the whole day, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Preston County
    • $175 for Election Day. $35 for in-person training, which typically lasts one and a half to two and a half hours.
    • Minimum age of 16, must be registered to vote in Preston County if 18 or older.
    • Must work the whole day, 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Randolph County
    • $200. In-person training typically lasts one hour.
    • Minimum age of 18, must be registered to vote in Randolph County.
    • Must work the whole day, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Ritchie County
    • $200. Training is required but specifics are not available.
    • Minimum age of 16, must be registered to vote in Ritchie County if 18 or older.
    • Must work the whole day, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Taylor County
    • $230 to $270 for Election Day and in-person training, which typically lasts about one and a half hours.
    • Minimum age of 16, must be registered to vote in Taylor County if 18 or older.
    • Must work the whole day, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Tucker County
    • $185. Training is required but specifics are not available.
    • Minimum age of 16, must be registered to vote in Tucker County if 18 or older.
    • Must work the whole day, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Upshur County
    • $150. Training is required but specifics are not available.
    • Minimum age of 16, must be registered to vote in Upshur County if 18 or older.
    • Must work the whole day, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Webster County
    • $200 to $250. Training is required but specifics are not available.
    • Minimum age of 16, must be registered to vote in Webster County if 18 or older.
    • Must work the whole day, 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
