HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — As the Hanover County Board of Supervisors was getting ready to issue proclamations of commendation for local Girl Scouts who had received a Gold Award , the board unanimously voted to pull the one for a Girl Scout who had created a “Banned Book Nook.”

During a Board of Supervisors meeting on Wednesday, April 10, the board was getting ready to go over the proclamations for the Girl Scouts when F. Michael Herzberg, IV, who represents the county’s Cold Harbor District, motioned to pull the one for the creator of the “Banned Book Nook.” All board members voted to approve the motion.

In October of last year, 8News reported on the “Banned Book Nook,” which was created after the Hanover County School Board approved a policy that summer which resulted in dozens of books being removed from the school district’s libraries and classrooms .

The “Banned Book Nook” has been on display in several businesses around Hanover, including Morr Donuts in the Mechanicsville area and We Think In Ink in Ashland.
