CLARK, NJ — TAPinto Clark received a number of emails and messages this morning informing us that, if we hadn't already heard, Vaccaro's Bakery in Clark will be closing. The landmark bakery, in business for 50 years, will turn off its ovens, put down its mixing bowls, and close up shop for good at the conclusion of business hours this Sunday, April 21.
Vaccaro's regular Sunday hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The announcement came via Facebook, on the Vaccaro's Bakery page , on Wednesday. The statement read, in part,
"After more than five decades of serving our beloved community, we must announce with heavy hearts that Vaccaro's Bakery will be closing its doors at the end of business on 21-April-2024. It has been an incredible journey, filled with sweet memories and cherished moments shared with each and every one of you.
"The decision to close comes with mixed emotions, but it is time for us, the owners, to embark on a new chapter in our lives. As we retire, we reflect on the joy and satisfaction this bakery has brought us over the years.
"We want to express our deepest gratitude to our loyal customers, dedicated staff, and supportive community for being a part of our story. Your patronage and friendship have been the cornerstone of our success and the memories forged within these walls will forever remain in our hearts."
The current owners of Vaccaro's are husband-and-wife team Vinny and Eileen Vaccaro. According to the bakery's webpage , Vinny's grandfather, Ralph, opened the first Vaccaro's in 1954 with his son, Vinny's father, Vincent, in Colonia. Following Ralph's retirement, Vincent continued to operate the bakery with his wife, Catherine, Vinny's mother.
The Colonia location closed in 2009.
Vinny and Eileen opened the Clark bakery in 1974. And there it has remained ever since, until this upcoming Sunday, when it will say farewell to the community once and for all.
But between now and then, wouldn't it be a smart and prudent idea to head over to Vaccaro's and pick up something delicious? Certain opportunities, like this one, are not guaranteed nor do they last forever.
It's a good time, too, to say thank you to Vinny and Eileen Vaccaro for everything they've given to the community now for nearly half a century.
Vaccaro's Bakery is located at 20 Clarkton Dr. in Clark.
