Butler County Auditor’s Office website sees ‘unusual activity’

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The Butler County Auditor’s Office’s website is down after “unusual activity.”

On Monday, Butler County Auditor Nancy Nix took to social media saying the office’s website was down and that information technology individuals were working to resolve the issue.

Nix wrote a statement from Tyler Technologies , host of the website, regarding the website:

On Sunday April 14, Tyler detected unusual activity in the public-facing property access hosting environment. Out of an abundance of caution we immediately took the solution offline. We understand the importance of the public presence your site affords and are working to safely bring the system back up as soon as possible.”

Residents needing to access their residential information online can still do so, but will have to go through an alternative method.

“While the Auditor home page remains off line as a security precaution, property searches can be conducted using a “back door” approach,” said Nix.

The auditor says residents needing a form can call 1-513-887-3154 for assistance.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this outage has caused and will hopefully be back up soon,” said Nix. “Thank you for your continued patience”
