CENTREVILLE, Va. ( DC News Now ) — After a Virginia man was charged in an alleged road rage incident, police and a road rage victim are warning drivers to calm down and have patience.

Brian Fuentes Ruiz, 22, is facing five charges , including malicious shooting, after the Fairfax County Police Department said he opened fire near Centreville and Compton roads on Saturday due to a road rage incident.

Charging documents obtained by DC News Now say Fuentes Ruiz “became angry” after he was passed on the roadway, so he pulled out a 9 mm firearm and opened fire on a vehicle. Nobody was injured.

The most recent incident is far from the only one.

Recently, the Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) shared tips with drivers, following an alleged road rage incident in Manassas.

“We’re asking for people to have continued patience,” PWCPD’s Renee Carr said in February.

On Tuesday, John Magill, who says he was injured in a road rage incident last year, said he was not surprised by the recent incidents.

“It’s going to continue on because there are some people who just don’t have any patience,” Magill said.

Magill said his incident happened on Route 50 in Falls Church, when a man allegedly assaulted him.

“I watched him as he parked his car, I turned around to get in my car and, wham, he came flying up behind me like a linebacker,” he said.

Magill wants to share a message with all drivers.

“Realize just because you tailgate somebody, if there’s cars in front of you, you’re not going anywhere. Are you going to save five seconds of time?” he said.
