Local drug awareness forum to be held April 9

A free “Community Speaks” drug and mental health community awareness event will be held from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday April 9 at the Sevenwinds Casino Conference Center.

Food service will begin at 4:10 p.m.

There will be seven speakers beginning at 5:15 p.m.: Nicole Smith on “Recovery is Possible”; Kim Dale of Forever Joy on “Don’t be Fooled by Fentanyl”; Sawyer County Sheriff and Lac Courte Oreilles Police representatives; and Sawyer County Public Health.

At 6:45 p.m., there will be a discussion of “Character, Ethics and Connections between Cybertechnology and Drug addiction/Overdose.”

At 7:30 p.m., Mike DeMain will speak on “Recovery is Possible.”

The event is sponsored by the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Governing Board and presented by a local substance abuse prevention coalition partnership between Lac Courte Oreilles and Sawyer County to promote positive mental health and prevent substance abuse through prevention, education, community action and treatment awareness.
