Dynamite discovered in Rusk County storage building, police say

MT. ENTERPRISE, Texas ( KETK ) – The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) said dynamite was discovered inside a vacated storage building on Sunday.

According to a release, the RCSO responded to a vacated property in the 14000 block of FM 95 South in reference to potential explosive devices that were found. The sheriff’s office said that upon investigation they discovered three sticks of suspected dynamite, that was later discovered to be dynamite.

Officials said that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) secured the scene and a special agent “rendered” the dynamite safe and destroyed it at the scene.

The RSCO said that they are conducting a follow-up investigation to “discover the origin of the dynamite.”
