SAN FRANCISCO, California (LAI) - A critical warning for parents: "Pink," a highly dangerous synthetic drug known as U4, is posing a serious threat to teenagers and college students. Despite the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) imposing a nationwide ban on its sale, this illicit substance continues to proliferate through online channels, mainly originating from Chinese companies offering it at an alarmingly low cost.

Pink is a drug with double the potency of heroin and a staggering seven times more powerful than morphine. Tragically, many individuals who experiment with Pink face life-threatening consequences, often fatally, after just one use. Shockingly, over 100 reported deaths in the United States have been directly linked to this synthetic drug. While it initially gained prominence on the East Coast, Pink's rapid spread across the country is causing growing concern.

This perilous drug typically comes in the form of a white powder. However, a dangerous misconception among teenagers is that they can use it in similar quantities to morphine or heroin, which is far from the truth. Even the smallest excess amount, equivalent to a few grains of sand, can prove to be lethal. Teenagers have taken to calling it "Pink" because of the common practice of snorting it off their pinky fingers. Warnings on websites that sell Pink emphasize that it is not intended for human consumption, but many online buyers ignore these crucial advisories.

Parents, it is absolutely crucial to arm yourselves with knowledge about Pink and, more importantly, engage in open and honest conversations with your children and college-bound teenagers about the immense dangers posed by this drug. The relative novelty of Pink means that the long-term effects remain largely unknown, making it all the more vital to address this issue promptly.

In addition to these conversations, parents are strongly encouraged to maintain vigilance by closely monitoring their teenagers' online activities, purchases, and bank statements. It is essential to recognize that the primary source of Pink is foreign companies based in China, distributing the drug via online platforms.
