    Malik Gant death updates — Family’s heartbreaking tribute to ex-Patriots & Marshall football star, 25, after body found

    FORMER Patriots DB Malik Grant, 25, was found dead in Miami just days before his 26th birthday, his family confirmed.

    Gant played college football at Marshall from 2015 to 2018 and spent time playing for the New England Patriots organization.

    The Gant family posted a statement shortly after his death was confirmed: "Malik was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many with his kindness, charisma and unwavering spirit.

    "He will be remembered as a loving son, a cherished brother, a devoted grandson, a valued teammate and a dear friend to countless individuals. His memory will live on in our hearts forever."

    A cause of death has not been revealed at this time.

    Individuals send love on family's heartbreaking statement

    Multiple individuals have commented on the Grant's heartbreaking statement announcing the death of former Patriots' DB Malik Grant.

    One Facebook user wrote: "I am soooo sad to read this announcement!!!

    "My condolences to all of the family especially to Sirraya and Colleen!!! May go be with you during this time of grieving!!!"

    Another commented: "I'm in shock and disbelief! My condolences to you and the family!"

    In a statement released by Malik Gant's family, they directed individuals to send all questions/cards and letters of condolences to Ms. Natalie Williams at (202) 904-9466.

    NFL fans from all over are taking to Twitter to send well wishes to the family of former Patriots' DB Malik Gant after he was found dead in Miami.

    Marshall issues statement

    Marshall released a statement about Malik Gant's death.

    “We are saddened to learn of the passing of former Marshall football player Malik Gant," Marshall's athletic department said.

    "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family in this difficult time."

    Gant played in 29 games during three seasons at Marshall.

    Malik Gant played Safety at Marshall and had a decent career throughout his time there.

    In 12 games Gant recorded 89 tackles, two interceptions, and ten pass breakups.

    After graduating he played for the New England Patriots but spent the first year on injured reserve.

    Family announces death

    Malik Grant's family confirmed the news of his tragic death, writing in a statement:

    "It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our beloved family member, Malik Gant."

    "Malik was found deceased on May 25, 2023, in Miami, Florida."

    "We are devastated by this unimaginable loss and are grieving deeply."

    Gant played at Marshall University for three years

    Malik Gant, 26, was a walk-on safety who played at Marshall University from 2015-18.

    After his time at Marshall, he went on to play within the New England Patriots organization.

    However, he was inconsistent during his time there, spending his first year with them on injured reserve.
