(OAKLAND, Calif.) Meteorologists from the National Weather Service say there’s a chance of thunderstorms in the Bay Area on Monday and Tuesday.

However, the prediction comes with a stark warning as lightning strikes create a greater risk for wildfires being sparked in the region.

As a result, the slight chance of thunderstorms amid such dry conditions in the region is enough for the service to issue a warning.

The prediction comes as strong winds from the south push moisture north, potentially causing enough accumulation for a thunderstorm or at least scattered showers.

The system is expected to cause gusty conditions in Southern California before moving north by Monday evening.

While the warning from the service is focused on dry lightning in the area, experts also say to expect some scattered rain and thunderstorms Monday.
