Officials in Key Biscayne, Florida, said a condominium building is not in danger after new video showed damage in the ceiling of the building's parking garage.

The video, which surfaced on TikTok, appeared to show a crack spanning in multiple directions under the buildings that make up the Towers of Key Biscayne, CBS4 reported.

Key Biscayne Village Manager Steven Williamson denied that the video shows a crack, instead explaining to USA TODAY that it shows cosmetic damage at the site of an expansion joint, a rubber-like material that allows concrete in the building to give.

“When the video is taken close, it looks a little sloppy, but in reality it’s just an expansion joint,” Williamson said.

Williamson said the building brought in a design professional to inspect the area, and the village deployed a task force.

“It’s not by any means structural at all. It’s cosmetic,” Williamson added. “What was covering the ceiling, from a cosmetic perspective, made it seem like it was something more ominous."

The Towers of Key Biscayne declined to comment to USA TODAY. The towers were built in 1971 and 1972.

The TikTok video, which has garnered thousands of likes on the popular video app, sounded alarms in the wake of the collapsed condo building in Surfside, Florida, near Miami.

Twenty people are confirmed to be dead in the Surfside collapse, and over 100 people are still missing as of Friday.

Rescue efforts in the building resumed on Thursday after they were suspended over concerns about the stability of the remaining tower at the site.

Annie, a resident of the second tower in the Towers at Key Biscayne, declined to give her last name to CBS4, but she told the outlet that the video made her "nervous."

However, she added that she was "pretty sure that management here is going to take care of it.

“I have two young children, and I want to make sure they are safe,” she said.
