Ex-NYPD cop shown attacking police at Capitol riot in new body cam video

(NEW YORK) New body camera footage of a former New York police officer who was indicted in February for participating in the Jan. 6 Capitol riots shows the ex-cop attacking police, NBC reported.

The video shows Thomas Webster, a 54-year-old retired NYPD officer from Manhattan, swinging a metal pole at Capitol police, kicking aside a barrier and leading the charge to storm the Capitol building.

A criminal complaint filed by the Justice Department on Feb. 19 showed still images of the body camera video. Video and photos from livestreams and social media corroborated the allegations.

Webster has been in jail since his arrest on Feb. 22, and faces charges of assault, disorderly conduct and engaging in violence in a restricted area. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
