Avery Sanford knew just what to do when she saw her father throw 80,000 pennies worth of child support right in her mother’s front yard in Richmond. She wouldn’t let it go to waste. Instead, she chose to donate all the money to a local shelter.

Video surveillance caught the moment when the fed-up father came by in his vehicle, with a trailer hitched to the rear. He lifted the trailer and threw all the pennies on the curb and the lawn, as reported by Fox News.

“What are you dropping in my yard?” the girl’s mother asked.

“It’s the last child support payment,” the father answered before driving off in a hurry.

The police responded to the incident after the surprised mother called 911.

“Henrico Police documented the incident, however no charges were filed,” Lieutenant Matthew Pecka stated for FOX Television Stations.

“It is really hurtful and damaging to your kids when you do things like that. And it doesn't matter how old your kids are. It doesn't matter if they're a young child or an adult. The actions of your parents will always have some effect on you,” the daughter shared with WTVR.
“It’s not just my mother that he’d be trying to embarrass. It’s also me, it’s also my sister. And it’s upsetting that he didn’t really consider that before he did this,” she added.

The father later said for WTVR that he regretted what he’d done and that his anger got the best of him on that day. Sanford also revealed for the outlet that she and her father haven’t spoken in years.

However, vengeance was not how the teenager wished this story to end.

She chose to donate all the pennies to Safe Harbor, a local shelter.

“The fact that they turned around such a spiteful act into something so beautiful just says a lot about the relationship between mother and daughter,” Safe Harbor Executive Director Cathy Easter said for FOX Television Stations on Monday.
“Turning around and donating that money to moms and children in need, I feel like that just really turns the situation into a positive one. You can learn a lesson from it,’ the Richmond teenager added.
