Virginia Beach is now an official "Top 25" beach town in the U.S.

Well, it's official. Virginia Beach has been named one of the "Top 25" beach towns in the country by none other than Newsweek as of May 3rd, and today the news trickled down to 3WTKR. At number 24 out of 25 on the list above between Wellfleet and Province Town, Massachusettes, Virginia Beach loses out to many states. California, Hawaii, Florida, New Jersey, and even Chincoteague, Virginia, which came in fifth, are all ahead of Virginia Beach. But it's on the list.

The question is: why?

Despite the recent shootings and hit-and-runs at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront leaving residents angered and sad about their once-proud beach town, there is still much to love about Virginia Beach. According to Newsweek, Virginia Beach earned the #24 spot on the list for three separate beaches, two state parks, great food, and culture.

I do have to agree that there is a lot of charm about Virginia Beach and the water is stunning especially at the Oceanfront. In fact, today I went with my family down to the beach for some sun and there were many families enjoying the nice weather. If you've never been and are new to Virginia Beach or are coming to visit, I highly suggest a visit. However, it can be a little confusing to find your way around at first, so make sure to plan ahead.

There are several parking structures at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront to take advantage of.

• 19th Street Municipal Lot (300 19th St)
• 34th Street Parking Garage (212 34th St)
• 9th Street Garage (200 9th St.)
• 25th Street Municipal Lot (310 25th St.)·
• Ocean Parking (1216 Atlantic Ave.)- You'll need to go inside the Arcade to pay for parking.

All of these parking lots can get you to where you need to go and are easy to find. Make sure to bring money and display your ticket. From there, you can head to the Oceanfront and enjoy the waves, shop, or get some food.

Ocean Eddy's is particularly good as well as Catch 31 Fish House and Bar, where we go a lot and went today. Despite being low on staff, the food was excellent. Prepare for a bit of a wait, though. All in all, I can definitely see why Virginia Beach is on the list of Top 25 Beach Towns in the U.S.
