(SAN FRANCISCO) Police in San Francisco arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly attempting to rob a 68-year-old man in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood.

On May 14, officers responded to a bus stop located at Geary Boulevard and Fillmore Street regarding a report of a robbery at approximately 2:53 p.m.

The victim, who is described as Asian American in a news release, said he was waiting for the bus when the robber pointed a handgun at him and demanded his wristwatch.

The robber, later identified as Pete Vines, grabbed the victim, forced him to the ground and struggled with him over his watch before eventually letting go and fleeing the scene in a vehicle. The victim was left with scratches on his arm.

On May 21 at approximately 5:42 p.m., officers located the getaway car unoccupied at Leavenworth and Turk streets. After a Crime Alert was issued, Vines was found on Leavenworth Street at Golden Gate Avenue.

Tenderloin officers arrived and arrested Vines without incident for attempted robbery, elder abuse and using a deadly weapon in the commission of an attempted felony.
