MLK Community Center food pantry now open 5 days a week

NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) — The food pantry at the MLK Community Center in Newport has updated its hours and will now be open every weekday.

The nonprofit provides food and support to at-risk residents of Newport County.

The pantry’s new hours are as follows:

Monday: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Tuesday: 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Wednesday: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Thursday: 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Friday: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The center noted that it’s only open to people who live in Newport County. Visitors are asked to bring a photo ID and reusable bags. First-time patrons should also have proof of address for every family member.
