Becker girls soccer stopped cold in first trip to state semifinals
MINNEAPOLIS — After a historic season highlighted by the extraordinary play of sister Adele and Andersyn Changamire — resetting the MSHSL benchmark for goals (66 by Adele) and assists (33 from Andersyn) in a single season — the Becker girls soccer team fell 6-0 to Academy of Holy Angels in the MSHSL Class 2A state semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 5. The Stars dominated the possession early and often at U.S. Bank Stadium, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime after living in the Bulldogs’ half of the field. Football: Ponies fall short against Prior Lake
SAVAGE — Seeking a fresh start in the postseason, some familiar challenges hampered Stillwater in a 28-13 loss to Prior Lake in the first round of the Class AAAAAA football playoffs on Friday, Oct. 30 at Prior Lake High School. The fifth-seeded Ponies (2-7) were locked in another tight battle through three quarters, but unable to make enough plays down the stretch — or avoid their opponents from seizing those opportunities. “Unfortunately, this feels like a broken record,” Stillwater coach Beau LaBore said. “It feels like most of the games that we’ve played.” The Ponies outgained Prior Lake (360-340), gained more first downs (26-14), and held a nearly 14-minute advantage in time of possession while running more than twice the number of plays (82 to 40), but were held scoreless in the second half as the Lakers (5-4) pulled away for their fifth straight victory after starting the season 0-4. Prior Lake’s reward is a road trip to top-seeded Moorhead (9-0) on Friday, Nov. 6 for a spot in the state tournament. The Spuds join Champlin Park (9-0) as the only remaining teams without a loss among the state’s largest schools. Stillwater moved the ball throughout the game against a

Royals football season ends to Eagan
Rogers football finished its regular season against Eagan on Oct. 30 and had a chance at instant revenge after losing their last game. The Royals couldn't deliver, ending their season in the first round of the state tournament. The Royals lost to the Wildcats 37-16 in the round of 32 as the underdog. The Royals got a six seed after a 1-7 regular season while the Wildcats got a three seed. After going down early the week before, the Royals started the game better this time around. The Royals scored the first and only first quarter touchdown on a 17-yard Aiden Kangas run. Tommy Jameson became a thorn in the Royals side starting in the second quarter. He first ran in a three-yard score with 2:12 left in the second quarter and a quick stop gave the Wildcats a chance to take the lead. With 10 seconds left in the half, Parker West hit Jameson for a 10-yard touchdown to take a 14-7 lead. The Royals tied it up in the second half right away thanks to a 52-yard catch and run from Derrick Harris to Andres Cardenas. The extra point tied the game, and the Royals were in business
