Boebert Defends ‘Pretty’ Donald Trump For Sleeping In Court, Argues He’s Actually Praying

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) offered a novel defense of former President Donald Trump’s sleeping during his New York City trial during a House committee meeting late on Thursday night.

Boebert began by asking Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) to hold up the blown-up image of Trump sleeping in court that he brought to the committee room. “Every so often, Mr. Garcia, maybe you could just lift up that picture of our President Trump sleeping. As you say, I think he’s praying. But if he is sleeping, you know, certainly looks pretty while he sleeps. Maybe it’s an endearing moment of prayer, though. I know when I fall asleep on airplanes, you know, my mouth kind of drops open, and, you know, his mouth is kind of tight lipped, so maybe. Maybe it’s just a somber moment,” she argued.

Garcia jumped in and noted, “I mean, he’s sleeping. It’s been it’s been reported by multiple press outlets.”

“I was in the courtroom today, and I, I do, I could see why someone would fall asleep. Just like George Conway fell asleep today, in the court hearing. You know, it’s kind of slow in there. It’s not as exciting as the House Oversight Committee, but, I just wanted to say that’s a lovely picture. You have a President Trump. Mr. Garcia, thank you. And I yield,” Boebert concluded.

Boebert has become a lightning rod of controversy during her time in Congress for her outlandish statements and colorful behavior, including being caught groping her boyfriend in a Denver theater before being kicked out. The Daily Mail on Friday noted that while Boebert attended Trump’s trial in New York City this week she failed to attend her son’s court hearings. “Tyler Boebert, 18, was arrested in late February and is facing felony charges in connection to a string of recent vehicle trespasses and property theft,” noted the Mail, adding , “her presence [in New York] was roundly mocked after it was noted how the Republican firebrand Rep. failed to show up at her own teenage son Tyler’s criminal trial.”
