A legendary piece of musical history is up for grabs — but not for a song.

At 421 W. 54th St., a penthouse unit asks $3.99 million, and it’s located inside the building that formerly housed a famed recording studio named The Hit Factory, The Post has learned.

The residence presents a rare opportunity to own a piece of the studio’s legacy, where musical legends crafted songs that remain famous to this day.

The Hit Factory operated inside the building’s walls from 1991 until 2005. It’s where everything from Mariah Carey’s “Butterfly” to Beyoncé’s “Dangerously in Love” were recorded — as well as *NSYNC’s “No Strings Attached” and the still-respected “Titanic” soundtrack.

This corner three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom duplex offers more than over 2,400 square feet of interior space, including a 680-square-foot private terrace boasting an outdoor fireplace and panoramic views of the city skyline.

Ascending to the upper floor, there’s a spacious living area adorned with a second fireplace and dark oak hardwood floors. It flows into a kitchen equipped with stone countertops and top-of-the-line appliances, including a wine fridge and a six-burner Viking range.

A staircase descends to the three bedrooms, including a primary suite featuring another fireplace and a spa-like bath.

Throughout the residence, lofty 12-foot ceilings add another perk.
