Organ-transplant container falls out the back of rushing NYC medical supply truck

An apparent organ-transplant container fell out of the back of a medical supply truck in Sunnyside, Queens, according to a shocked user on the Citizen app who posted a video of the bizarre incident.
The good Samaritan tried to stop the driver near Borden Avenue and Van Dam Street, but he sped off along the industrial strip near Newtown Creek with the back door open, the man said in the clip posted April 9.
“He didn’t notice when I was trying to scream, telling him to pick up the box,” he said in the footage.
The man said he tried to yell to get the driver’s attention but the driver appeared to be in a rush. citizen
He said he picked up a package labeled “LifePort Kidney Transporter,” which is a device from the company Organ Recovery Systems. It’s unclear if the box had a kidney in it.
Organ Recovery System’s logo was also on the box, along with a QR code that links to manuals and instructions for the company’s products.
“Fortunately, I was able to pick up at least this one,” he said in the video, adding the police were on their way. “I don’t know if he might have dropped some more on the way … hopefully someone told him it was open.”

The LifePort Kidney Transporter is an insulated, portable medical device used to preserve and transport the organs for eventual transplantation into a recipient, according to the manufacturer, Organ Recovery Systems. A QR code on the box linked to instruction manuels for LifePort’s devices, including the kidney transporter.

Organ Recovery Systems did not respond to inquiries from The Post. Area hospitals contacted by The Post did not receive any reports of a missing or delayed kidney.
A spokesman for the NYPD said the driver came back to retrieve what was dropped.
