The Hudson landfill operator sued earlier this year by the neighbor who has been challenging his business operation for more than a decade now faces an even bigger hurdle. This week the Florida Department of Environmental Protection issued a draft notice that it intends to change its mind about issuing a new permit for Coastal Landfill Disposal and instead deny the landfill’s permit extension. The agency says it no longer believes that the business can convince them that it is following the rules and law that govern such businesses.
