NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – A New Haven man was sentenced this week to five years in prison on drug trafficking charges, according to Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

Carlyle Henry, 39, was sentenced to 60 months of imprisonment, followed by two years of supervised release, for a drug trafficking and firearm possession offense.

The U.S. Attorney’s office said the charges stem from an incident on Oct. 12, 2022, during which Henry crashed his vehicle on a retaining wall on the Yale University campus just before midnight.

He was arrested when Yale Police found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a bag of “distribution quantities” of cocaine, packaged heroin and fentanyl, and counterfeit pills containing fentanyl.

On Nov. 15, 2022, Henry pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He’s been in custody since his arrest.

Henry has previously been convicted for firearms possession and narcotics distribution charges, including a federal narcotics conviction in 2006, for which he was sentenced to 50 months in prison.
