NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) — Progress continues in New Bern as a health center is being brought to the Five Points area.

Last month, the New Bern Redevelopment Commission said the Board of Aldermen approved the health center. It would be located near the new Stanley White Recreation Center, right at the center of Broad Street.

The commission said the center comes as a partnership with CarolinaEast Health System, and they have one more form to fill out.

“In this redevelopment boundary area, there’s not even a doctor’s office,” said Zeb Hough, New Bern Redevelopment Commission executive director. “Putting this clinic in a walkable place where individuals will be able to engage with primary care like medical attention is really exciting.”

The redevelopment commission says construction is expected to take between 10-18 months.
