Southwest flight from Baltimore diverted to Nashville due to ‘odor’ in the cabin

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Southwest Airlines flight bound for Denver had to land early due to an “odor” that filled the plane’s cabin, officials said.

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 departed from Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) at 8:50 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, April 30, according to flight tracking website Flightaware .

The plane’s flight path showed it leaving Baltimore and landing at Nashville International Airport (BNA) at approximately 9:42 p.m. CT.

Southwest told News 2 the plane landed after an “odor was detected in the cabin.” However, officials did not clarify what the odor was and said the aircraft was taken out of service.

The passengers were reportedly moved to a different aircraft and continued to Denver. According to flight records, the plane landed safely at Denver International Airport at 12:50 a.m. MDT on Wednesday, May 1.

“We appreciate our Customers’ patience as we work to get them to their destinations as quickly as possible,” said Southwest Airlines.
