Coldwater basketball sweeps Hastings; boys win first game of season
COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater varsity boys and girls basketball teams opened up Interstate 8 play Friday night by hosting Hastings at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium. The Cardinal boys picked up their first win of the season by beating the Saxons 55-44. Ayden Dirschell had a big night, leading his team with 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists. Gavin Taylor had 9 points and 3 boards, and Niko Downs added 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. Zach Coffing had 6 rebounds and 6 assists to go with his 5 points as Coldwater improved to 1-3 overall, 1-1 in the Interstate 8.
