(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Naperville police announced another gun-related arrest in the parking lot of TopGolf, one of over a dozen to have taken place in the past year.

Naperville Police Commander Rick Krakow said it happened on Monday night.

“Officers were performing a proactive foot patrol in the parking lot of the TopGolf when they looked inside [of] a Jeep and located a firearm that was in plain view,” Krakow said.

When 25-year-old Joshua Passafiume, of Coal City, returned to the Jeep, police said he was arrested for not having a concealed carry license for that gun.

Prosecutors charged him with unlawful use of a weapon.

Naperville police said there have been so many arrests because of increased police patrols outside TopGolf — not because of any safety issues inside the facility.

“We’ve said this before: As far as inside the facility, we are not getting calls of any sort of issues happening inside the facility,” said Krakow. “It’s been very, very infrequent over the last several years. This is strictly people who are leaving their firearms illegally in their vehicle.”

The Naperville Sun reports this was the 18th gun-related arrest outside TopGolf since August.
