Man shot to death on sidewalk in East Oakland

(OAKLAND, Calif.) Police are investigating the shooting death of a 49-year-old man in East Oakland Wednesday, East Bay Times reports.

The shooting happened at approximately 3:46 a.m. when the man was gunned down while standing on a sidewalk near East 27th Street and 26th Avenue, which is mainly residential.

Police discovered the man at the scene and he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

This is the 49th homicide in Oakland in 2021, compared to the 22 reported homicides reported in the city this time last year.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for any additional information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
