(THE BRONX, N.Y.) A man who is believed to be the top suspect in the shooting of a 75-year-old bystander in Manhattan was apprehended in Florida, thanks to the use of Facebook photos, police said Wednesday, per the New York Post.

Carlyle Herring, 42, was placed in custody in Tampa on April 26 after investigators examined photos on his Facebook page that depicted palm trees and a pool in the background, police sources said.

The 42-year-old Bronx native was extradited to New York on Tuesday and charged with attempted murder, police said.

Herring is wanted in connection to an incident that happened on Feb. 16, when he was trying to cross at the intersection of Clinton and Delancey streets shortly before noon when he was almost struck by a black BMW, according to officials.

The driver exited his vehicle and had a verbal back-and-forth with Herring.

During the dispute, Herring pulled out a handgun and let off multiple shots aimed at the BMW driver — which missed, authorities said.

One of the bullets struck the 75-year-old woman — who had no involvement — in the buttocks as she walked by, according to police.

She was rushed to Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in stable condition, per the Post.

The BMW driver suffered no injuries and drove off from the scene.
